Alnus Rubra
Almost white when freshly cut and turns golden to light tan. There is no distinction between heartwood and sapwood.
Grain is generally fine, with a uniform texture and straight but subdued grain
Machines well and is excellent for turning. It nails, screws and glues well, and can be sanded, painted, or stained to good finish. It is a softer wood and care should be taken to avoid denting it in some applications.
Medium density wood, low shock resistance / bending strength, medium crushing strength
kitchen cabinetry, doors, furniture, mouldings & millwork, decorative woodwork, carvings, and musical instruments
